Privacy Policy

Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy outlines how Credence collects, uses, shares, and protects your information when you use our platform.

Information We Collect

  • Personal Information: Name, email address, profile details, and other information you provide when creating or updating your account.
  • Usage Data: Information about how you use our services, including log data, device information, browser type, IP address, and cookies.

How We Use Your Information

  • To provide, operate, and maintain our platform and services
  • To personalize and improve your user experience
  • To communicate with you, including sending service updates, announcements, and support messages
  • To monitor and analyze usage to improve our performance and offerings
  • To comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms and policies

Sharing Your Information

  • We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
  • We may share information with trusted service providers who help us operate our platform. These providers are contractually bound to keep your data confidential and secure.
  • We may disclose information if required to do so by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users or the public.

GitHub Integration

When you connect your GitHub account to Credence, we use GitHub OAuth to request permission to view a list of your public and private repositories. This integration is strictly optional and can be disconnected at any time through your account settings.

We do not read, store, or access the content of your code. Instead, we analyze high-level repository metadata, including:

  • Repository names and visibility (public/private)
  • File extensions (e.g., .js, .rb, .py)
  • Framework/package definition files (e.g., package.json, Gemfile)

This data is used to generate a tech stack and language breakdown, as well as estimated proficiency scores to help recruiters better understand your technical background. These analysis insights may be included in your job applications submitted through Credence.

The GitHub analysis is provided as a general guide and is not intended to be a definitive measure of your skill or experience. It should be viewed as one of many signals in the hiring process.

You can revoke GitHub access at any time, which will permanently delete all associated analysis data from our systems. GitHub integration is completely optional — you may apply for jobs and use Credence without connecting your GitHub account.

Your Rights

  • You may access, update, or delete your personal information at any time by contacting us.
  • You may opt out of marketing or non-essential communications by following the instructions provided in those messages.
  • You may disconnect third-party integrations (such as GitHub) at any time and request full deletion of related data.

For any questions, concerns, or data-related requests, please contact us at credence.hookerhillstudios@gmail.com.
